In Case of Emergency - Break Glass
In Case of Emergency - Break Glass is an early work from the 'Beneath the Bell Jar' series. A full-blown pink peony presses against the inside of a glass cloche, its petals crowding the dome, one fallen bloom already resting at the base. A single glass rod leans against the jar, the only tool in reach.
Set against pale, marbled greens and a soft blush wall, the painting holds the tension between preservation and confinement. The peony is kept beautiful, but it is kept. The rod is the invitation: the glass can be broken at any time, and the choice belongs to the viewer.
